Patterson Barrett—Executive Producer, Director
With more than 15 years of experience in instructional audio recording, Patterson Barrett has developed a strong understanding of the budget issues, schedule urgency, and specific instructional content needs of educational publishers. His rich and diverse career as a musician, award-winning commercial music composer/producer, and recording engineer brings an artistic perspective to his production style. Patterson’s ear for casting the right voice, his knowledge of the American school audience’s sensibilities, and the high technical quality of his work distinguish his productions. Editorial clients have come to rely on his ability to successfully guide them through the entire audio design and production process.

Kathy Wells—Production Manager, Director, and Text Editor
After receiving her B.S. in Radio-TV-Film from the University of Texas at Austin and serving for several years as production manager for educational media companies, Kathy Wells decided to become a teacher herself, earning an M.Ed degree from Texas State University. As a media developer and a classroom teacher, Kathy views projects from both the publisher’s and end-user’s perspectives. PBAS clients value her skill as a studio director and script consultant who assures that each finished product will engage the listener and achieve its instructional and business objectives.

Lydia Doty—Associate Producer and Instructional Designer
As Executive Audio Producer for Holt, Rinehart and Winston for 16 years, Lydia Doty guided all aspects of audio product design and development. Previously she taught in the Writing Program of Syracuse University for 12 years, where she was active in literacy and electronic message design research. She holds an M.A. in English from Fordham University and an M.S. in Instructional Design, Development, and Evaluation from Syracuse University. Lydia’s publishing industry experience and pedagogical knowledge enable us to collaborate with editorial clients to transform content into a research-based audio design that meets their instructional, marketing, and budget objectives.
